Online accounting software

Nordlet is accounting software you use in the browser or through an API, with country filings for 30 European countries.

Online accounting software, also called cloud accounting software, runs on the provider's servers. You open it in a web browser. There is nothing to install, and your accountant and your team can work in the same books from anywhere.

Nordlet is online accounting software for companies in the EU and EEA. It has two ways in:

  • The web app, where you and your team click through invoices, bank lines, reports and filings.
  • The API, a programming interface that lets other software do the same work. Everything the product does is available over one JSON API.

Both use the same books, so a document created through the API shows up in the web app and the other way round.

What Nordlet does

  • Invoicing. Create and issue sale invoices, credit notes and recurring invoices. Issuing gives the invoice the next number in its series and posts it to the ledger.
  • Purchases. Register supplier bills. Bills can be forwarded to a company intake e-mail address, which files them on the capture page to be read.
  • Bank. Connect a bank or import statements, then match each payment to its invoice. See bank reconciliation.
  • Ledger. A double-entry general ledger with a chart of accounts, journal entries, cost centers and accounting periods you can lock.
  • Stock, assets and payroll. Warehouses and stock movements, fixed assets with monthly depreciation, and payroll with HR records.
  • Reports. Trial balance, financial statements, VAT reports, debt aging, cash flow and more. Lists export to Excel, and reports run as JSON, Excel or PDF.
  • E-invoicing. Send and receive Peppol e-invoices through your own access point. See the Peppol guide.
  • Filings. VAT returns, payroll reports and annual filings for each country Nordlet supports.

Country filings

Nordlet knows the filing deadlines of 30 European countries. For each filing it does one of three things:

  • builds the file and sends it to the administration,
  • builds the file for you to upload yourself,
  • or shows the figures for you to key into the administration's own form.

Which filing goes out which way is listed per country in the filing support table.

Safeguards in the books

  • Every journal entry must balance. The database itself checks this when the entry is saved.
  • Document numbers have no gaps within a series and year.
  • A locked accounting period refuses any new posting dated inside it.
  • Every change is recorded in an audit log with who made it and what changed.

Working as a team

  • Roles. Each member has one role: owner, admin, accountant, manager, developer or viewer. The role decides what they can read and change. See the team roles guide.
  • Several companies. One account can hold several companies, including sandbox companies for testing that are clearly marked as test data.
  • Moving from another program. Partners, opening balances, open invoices, fixed assets and stock can be brought over in one import. See the migration guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. The web app runs in the browser. Developers who want to connect their own software use the API, the SDKs or the MCP server.

Which countries does Nordlet support?

The filing support table lists the 30 countries and every filing, with how each one goes out.

Can my accountant work in the same books?

Yes. Invite them under Account → Team and give them the accountant role, which can read and change every accounting module.
