Nordlet for accountants and bookkeepers
Work in several client companies from one login, with an accountant role, ledger reports, period locks and SIE, DATEV and FEC exports.
An accountant or bookkeeper keeps the books for other companies. Most work for several clients at once, and each client needs its own books, its own filings and its own reports.
In Nordlet, each client is a separate company with its own chart of accounts. A chart of accounts is the list of accounts a company uses to sort its money, such as bank, sales or rent. One login can be a member of many companies, and you switch between them in the app.
What Nordlet does
- Lets one user belong to several companies. A client invites you by e-mail, or you create a company yourself.
- Switches between your companies from the company switcher in the app.
- Gives you the accountant role: full read and write access to every accounting module, without access to the client's team, API keys, billing or company settings.
- Keeps the books with double-entry bookkeeping. Every posting must balance, and the database checks this when the change is saved.
- Lets you post manual journal entries. A journal entry is one record in the books, with equal amounts on the debit and credit side.
- Rejects any posting dated inside a locked accounting period.
- Records every change in an audit log: who did what to which record. The company owner and admins can open it under Account.
The team roles guide lists what each role can see and change.
Reports and exports
- Trial balance, financial statements, general journal, general ledger detail, partner balances, debt aging, VAT summary and VAT detail. A trial balance lists every account with its debit and credit totals.
- Every list in the app has an Export to Excel button that exports all rows matching the current filters.
- Report jobs produce JSON, Excel or PDF files.
- Under Reports, Accounting file, Nordlet builds three standard ledger files:
- SIE: the Swedish accounting exchange format, with the chart of accounts, balances and, if you choose, every voucher of the year.
- DATEV: the Buchungsstapel file used by German accounting software.
- FEC: the French file of accounting entries.
Bringing a client over
- The migration guide explains how to import a client's chart of accounts, partners, opening balances or full history, open invoices, fixed assets and stock.
- A check-only call runs every validation first and stores nothing. The import itself stores everything or nothing.
Filings and groups
- Nordlet keeps each company's filing deadlines in a calendar. For each filing it either sends the file, builds a file you upload, or shows the figures you key in. The filing support table lists every country and filing.
- For a group of companies, consolidation combines several companies into one set of group statements. You can only add a company that shares an administrator with the group owner.
